For those that have read my About Me page, you know this is where everything comes full circle.
My good friend Donald Trull was asked to write a backup story for the second volume of the anthology comic book Sex, Spies & Rock ‘n Roll. In this short, 7-page story, Donald juxtaposed an assassin’s night off with Men Without Hats’ “The Safety Dance.” Flashbacks were shown alongside images from 1980s music videos and surreal depictions of our protagonist’s thoughts.
When I started this project, I illustrated the comic on standard 11×17 comic book boards but had the bold idea to ink it digitally using an iPad. It wasn’t quite as smooth an experience as using a Wacom Tablet, but it got the job done. That said, when it comes to inking comics—fountain pens remain king.
